ConfluxCity Brewing Company featured a brand new Special Event brew, for Portland’s 150th Birthday! “Portland Ses-SQUENCH-tennial Ale” a unique apple-cherry-wheat brew debuted Friday and was available throughout the weekend at ConfluxCity.


Classic Car Cruise

Classic Car Cruise with Portland Cruisers – Just like old times, cruise downtown and admire the rides – music too. 6-8pm Kent St., Maple St, Water St, Bridge St

Play games, hopscotch, jump rope, hula hoop, twister, frisbee / ball in bucket tic- tac-toe, washers, corn hole, giant Jenga, giant bubbles.  Family Fun for all ages. On Kent Street between Bridge Street and Grand River Ave.


Music Through the Decades

The Portland Community Arts Council is excited to present songs of the past 50 of our 150 years, performed by local and regional musicians.  From the late ’60s to today’s music, we’ll be singing (and dancing) at Portland’s band shell, celebrating the incredible musical talent in our community.  It’s been a blast going through 1/2 century of great music to find just the right songs to celebrate Portland. At the Bandshell. Immediately followed by Portland High School Marching Band Performing their ‘Through the Decades’ Half Time Show

Farm to Table

Over 200 participants dined on a 4 course meal catered by several local restaurants and caterers at the Red Mill Pavilion, followed by an auction of winning baked goods from the Bake-Off, and a cakewalk of the runners-up.

Portland Vintage Baseball

Vintage Baseball Game, Bud Plant Field at Bogue Flats Recreation Area

The Portland Blue Sox VS Michigan Barnstormers, a crack team made up of members from various clubs throughout the state.

1864 Rules, Vintage Uniforms and equipment.  Traditional refreshements fortified the players and the crowd. A fitting cap to our weekend celebration.

Portland Garden Club Garden Tour

 July 20th

Portland Garden Club members are opening up their gardens for a public  tour in honor of Portland’s sesquicentennial celebration. Donations were accepted at each location to benefit the Old Red Mill and Civic  Players Marquee.

Red Mill Community Days

August 24th 9 AM – 9 PM at the Red Mill & Pavillion, 450 Water Street

Friends of the Red Mill presented a fantastic day of FREE family fun including  

Food treats & delights through the whole day – Kid Zone – all day games and activities hosted by Epic Church  Craft Show – over 60 crafters, Silent Auction, Live Music – Old Timers Band, Celebrity Dunk Tank, DJ Entertainment, Trivia & Karaoke, Inflatable Obstacle Course brought by Army National Guard, Barn Dance, Kick-n-Style Line Dancing, Demonstrations – wood carving, saw mill & more Mill Tours – by Portland Area Historical Society, Old Red Mill Farmer’s Market, Portland Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase, Vision Screening (free) hosted by Lyons Muir Lions Club
